DGC is an initiative of the Investment Corporation of Dubai, the sovereign wealth fund of the Government of Dubai established in 2006, which manages the Government of Dubai’s portfolio of commercial companies and investments.
The Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), the principal investment arm of the Government of Dubai, was established in May 2006 by decree (11) of 2006 under a mandate to consolidate and manage the Government of Dubai’s portfolio of commercial companies and investments. It also provides strategic oversight by developing and implementing investment strategy and corporate governance policies with an objective to maximize stakeholder value, for the long-term benefit of the Emirate.
ICD has a rich portfolio of assets, both locally and internationally, across a broad spectrum of the sectors that form the blueprint of Dubai’s dynamic economy. It has built a strong foundation of key indigenous companies from multiple sectors that Dubai has worked strategically over four decades to achieve dominance in. ICD is now furthering Dubai’s presence and expertise by expanding globally, pursuing an ambitious investment strategy that is disciplined, sustainable, and provides synergy with its existing portfolio. In doing so, ICD is working to safeguard and enhance Dubai’s economic prosperity for future generations.
Dubai South is an emerging 145 sq. km. city situated within the emirate of Dubai that will ultimately sustain a population of one million.
Launched as a Government of Dubai project in 2006, the city is mandated to embody the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum by manifesting the urban and societal themes as outlined in the Dubai Plan 2021. These themes relate to becoming a city of happy, creative and empowered people, an inclusive and cohesive society; the preferred place to live, work and invest, a smart and sustainable city, and a pivotal hub in the global economy.
Dubai South’s economic platform supports every conceivable kind of business and industry. The city is also home to the now-operational Al Maktoum International Airport –the largest airport in the world when complete – and the Expo 2020.
